Back in the peaceful surroundings of Mires Beck, North Cave, for the latest woodcarving course. We were lucky with sunshine and a light breeze with all the wet weather, floods and hurricanes across the region before and after this first Saturday.<\/p>\n

Bridlington the day after the first workshop ~ I got soaked minutes later.<\/p>\n

Serves me right.<\/p>\n

We have some larch to work on this time, with its sweet-smelling bark and distinctive grain, which when cut almost looks like different layers of plywood. It also has a fair bit of sap when it’s felled at this time of year, but as yet it’s not got in the way of some nice carving.<\/p>\n
