Beverley Folk Festival

Sunny weather for a change at this year’s festival, and it made for a great atmosphere. As well as having the usual stall with the prints etc I stood outside under the shade of a gazebo chiselling away on some small blocks of laburnum.

Unfortunately, trading at a festival means you tend not to see too much of the music. The nearest we got was Billy Bragg casting his eye over the stall and CJ (“The Bard of Holderness”) performing his anti-fracking ditty for us. There were plenty of Morris teams performing a few yards away over the weekend, all with different styles and many having developed a modern twist on traditional themes.

The weekend was rounded off with the sound of Chas n Dave drifting across from the main tent, and after poking our heads in just in time for “Rabbit,” it was time to head home.
