Castle Hill Covid Carving

Just finished this carving at Castle Hill Hospital, Hull, reproducing the design from a coin in remembrance of those lost to Covid. The last picture shows the back of the coin and explains why it has special relevance to this hospital.

The carving itself was a real challenge – as you can see from the photos, at times it felt as though there were more cracks than wood in this old oak tree stump ☹️ It actually looks better seen in person, as I think the eye focuses on the design rather than the cracks – photos do the opposite somehow. Anyway, there it is.
