These cats have just been collected by a smashing couple, now heading all the way home to East Sussex. Huge thanks to them for dropping off the wood originally too: the gnarly old burr was very special to them, as was the subject matter of the carving, and I was very touched to have been asked to create something for them.
As you can see from the “before and after” shots, with so many lumps and bumps on the wood the challenge was to come up with a design that utilised those unusual shapes: a headache at the beginning but satisfying when it finally clicks!
