I’ve been working with Preston Primary School, East Yorkshire, creating a giant totem-style trunk filled with small carved panels of wildlife. The children had come up with ideas and fantastic drawings, and over a few weeks almost every pupil will have contributed to the carving.
The enormous lime trunk was sourced and delivered by Pete Bowser Tree Services, and it has proved perfect for the children to carve ~ soft and clean-cutting. Once finished the trunk will be set in the ground near the nature area, (which may be easier said than done!) but for the time being we’ve been concentrating on the carvings.
Year 2 pupils tapping away.
Ladybird, crow, butterfly, acorn, bee and flower.
Looking good!
