Eastfield Primary School is Totemtastic!

Eastfield pupils had some good ideas and designs ~ the most popular involved representations of the “house” groups, or rather, the Hull people that inspired the names of the house groups (Lillian Bilocca, William Wilberforce, Amy Johnson and Thomas Ferens).

I felt that the four portraits of these people would be a tall order for the pupils to carve, so each were represented by symbols or images relating to them: a fish for Bilocca, due to her part in the history of Hull trawlers; a broken chain for Wilberforce, to represent the end of slavery; a gypsy moth for Johnson, in reference to her first aircraft; an artist’s palette to show part of the legacy of Ferens in the citys art gallery.

Many thanks to the pupils who presented me with beautiful examples of their artwork ~ including a couple of brilliant portraits of yours truly!
