On to the second panel at Sewerby Hall, a smaller slice of the Monkey Puzzle this time and so a smaller carved illustration and shorter text ~ “Mighty oaks from little acorns grow” with some oak leaves and acorns where space would allow.
I popped into the walled garden before starting, whilst there was no-one else around…
The thinner, smaller sections of the Monkey Puzzle look like they’ll be a bit of a challenge, as the branch-knots have to be avoided plus some have a very soft pithy strip down the centre, right in the heart. It means lots of measurements have to be taken when doing preparatory designs and space has to be used carefully.
