The next carving for Sewerby Hall, and sadly the last one for the time being, was of a traditional Bridlington “coble” ~ an inshore sailing boat from the north-east of England and mentioned as far back as the Lindisfarne Gospels.
The Bridlington Coble Festival is held every year (when there isn’t a worldwide pandemic), and is a hugely popular event; it was an easy decision to take one as the subject for the final log, along with the familiar image of a group of seagulls (not quite as popular as cobles, but familiar nonetheless).
