Bee Happy

Clive at Lovewood Kitchens asked me to create a few pieces for a client’s bespoke kitchen ~ five characterful mice in various poses, and an oval plaque featuring a bee. I didn’t get any photos of the mice ~ I’d intended to take a nice group picture at the end, but I attached a small piece of doweling into the underside of each (so they could be fixed to the kitchen units) and of course after that they didn’t stand up; hopefully I’ll get some pictures of them in situ at some point.

The bee plaque had to fit neatly on to a mantle, presumably over the oven, so I had a list of measurements to adhere to. The bee itself was quite small, only about 15cm in height, and with oak not being the easiest wood to work with on a small scale, it was a challenge!
