A Saint and a Cat

I squeezed a couple of smaller jobs in before a short break away in Dumfries and Galloway, knowing that upon my return I was back at Sewerby Hall creating some carvings for a fairy-themed area. One of these smaller jobs was a house sign featuring Saint Chad, Bishop of the Mercians at some point in the 7th Century.

There aren’t many images of St Chad to be found (maybe he was a bit camera-shy?!), but I found a suitable picture of a stained glass window from St Cuthbert’s chapel, Ushaw College which I used to copy his likeness.

Next was a small ash tree stump in Scunthorpe, with a cat reaching up to grab whatever the customer decides to put on the top.
